In episode 43 Sam is joined by Alexander Jacoby, Senior Lecturer in Japanese Studies at Oxford Brookes University.
Alex discusses Rashōmon (88 minutes), Akira Kurosawa's Japanese cinema classic from 1950. The film stars Toshiro Mifune, Machiko Kyō, Masayuki Mori, and Takashi Shimura.
Sam and Alex talk about Kurosawa's career, how the film became a global sensation and the BFI's Japan 2020 film season.

Edith has chosen Slow West (84 minutes), John Maclean's directorial debut from 2015. The Sundance prize-winning film stars Kodi Smit-McPhee, Michael Fassbender, Ben Mendelsohn, Caren Pistorius and Rory McCann.
Sam and Edith talk about Jed Kurzel's incredible score, the sweeping New Zealand vistas standing in for the old west, and comment on Fassbender's shaving technique.

Mike has chosen Tobe Hooper's seminal horror The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (83 minutes) from 1974. Written by Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel, the film stars Gunnar Hansen, Marilyn Burns and Paul A. Partain.
Sam and Mike talk about how the film was banned on release, the enduring appeal of Leatherface and just how bad the sets must have smelt.

Anna has chosen Pedro Almodóvar's 1988 international breakout hit Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (89 minutes). The film stars Carmen Maura, Rossy de Palma, Julieta Serrano, María Barranco and Antonio Banderas.
Anna and Sam talk about the film's sharp script, the top tier cast, it's vibrant colour palette and an all important batch of gazpacho soup.

In episode 39 Sam is joined by comedian, actor, musician, director and radio presenter Nick Helm.
Nick's been performing stand up since 2007 and his television credits include a starring role in Uncle for BBC Three. Nick directed, co-wrote and starred in the BAFTA nominated short film Elephant. Nick also co-presents Nick Helm and Nathaniel Metcalf's Fan Club on FUBAR Radio.
Nick has chosen Sam Raimi's third Evil Dead film; Army Of Darkness (86 minutes). Army Of Darkness was released in 1992 and stars Bruce Campbell as franchise lead Ash Williams.
Nick and Sam talk about being nominated for a BAFTA, Nick's life long appreciation of Bruce Campbell, the many different versions of Army Of Darkness and Nick remembers exactly when his childhood ended.

In episode 35 Sam is joined by film critic Amon Warmann, writer for Empire Magazine, Pilot TV and NME to name just a few. Amon is also known for his Amontage series of Youtube videos.
Amon has chosen the 76 minute long Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker. Originally released direct to video in 2000, a feature-length spin off from the Batman Beyond animated TV series. The film is directed by Curt Geda, who actually worked in the art department on previous 90 Minutes Or Less entry; Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm.
Amon and Sam talk about life as a film critic, the dark undertones in Return Of The Joker and the exciting reunion of iconic voice actors Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy as the Joker and Bruce Wayne.
