In episode 34 Sam is joined by film critic and broadcaster Clarisse Loughrey. Clarisse is the chief film critic for The Independent and a regular stand-in for Mark Kermode on BBC Radio 5 Live’s ‘Kermode and Mayo’ film review (aka Wittertainment).
Clarisse has chosen the 88 minute long House [Hausu] (ハウス), Nobuhiko Ôbayashi's cult horror film from 1977. The film was originally commissioned to be the "Japanese Jaws" but became entirely it's own - very unique - thing...
Clarisse and Sam talk about getting started as a film critic on the radio, the origins of House, Nicolas Cage's Japanese pachinko commercials, and a very prominent dancing skeleton!

In episode 33 Sam is joined by comedian Mae Martin, whose new TV show Feel Good comes to Channel4 and All4 on 18 March. (If listening outside of the UK, the show will also come to Netflix on 19 March).
Mae has chosen Stand By Me (89 minutes), Rob Reiner's classic coming of age film from 1986, based on the Stephen King novella The Body. The film stars Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Jerry O'Connell and Kiefer Sutherland.
Mae and Sam talk about how the film inspired Feel Good, the incredible performances from the young leads and how the famous pie eating scene hasn't aged well.
