In episode 54 Sam is joined by BAFTA award-winning actor, writer and director Celyn Jones. His next film, Six Minutes to Midnight, starring Eddie Izzard and Dame Judi Dench, is due out in March 2021.
Celyn has chosen Last Resort (74 minutes) by Pawel Pawlikowski. The film from 2000 stars Paddy Considine and Dina Korzun.
Sam and Celyn discuss working with Elijah Wood on Set Fire To The Stars, his journey to becoming a film maker, and how Paddy Considine played a pivotal role in his career.
Celyn recently produced Zara Hayes's Poms, starring Diane Keaton, Jacki Weaver and Pam Grier. The film is available to watch on a number of digital platforms.

In episode 53 Sam is joined by actor Tuppence Middleton, who has recently starred in David Fincher's Mank and Brandon Cronenberg's Possessor.
Tuppence has chosen The Nightmare Before Christmas (76 minutes), directed by Henry Selick. Disney's classic stop motion animated musical started life as an idea by Tim Burton and stars Catherine O'Hara, Danny Elfman and Chris Sarandon.
Sam and Tuppence discuss working with David Fincher and Gary Oldman on Mank, why The Nightmare Before Christmas is an annual watch and what a fantastic singing voice Catherine O'Hara has!
Mank is available on Netflix and Possessor is available to purchase / rent on all good streaming service.

Kim-Joy has chosen Robot and Frank (85 minutes), directed by Jake Schreier. The 2012 sci-fi comedy drama stars Frank Langella, Susan Sarandon, Peter Sarsgaard, James Marsden and Liv Tyler.
Sam and Kim-Joy discuss being on The Great British Bake-Off, why she chose Robot and Frank and what her ideal robot would do.

Back in May, Sam spoke to comedian Nick Helm about his favourite film, Army of Darkness. Before they got to that however, Nick talked about how he'd watched all seven Police Academy movies in one day. As six of them are under 90 minutes, we thought it would make great bonus episode while the Film Fest is on a short break until Christmas.

In episode 49 Sam is joined by Rose Glass, writer and director of Saint Maud.
Rose has chosen Pi (84 minutes), Darren Aronofsky's feature directorial debut from 1998. The film won him the Directing Award at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival, and stars Sean Gullette, Mark Margolis and Ben Shenkman.
Sam and Rose discuss what the film achieves with it's tiny budget, Pi's influence on her feature debut Saint Maud, and how to get away with filming without a permit in New York.
Saint Maud is in cinemas from 9 October.

Sarah has chosen Show Me Love (aka Fucking Åmål), Lukas Moodysson's 89 minute long directorial debut from 1998. The Swedish romantic comedy-drama stars Rebecka Liljeberg and Alexandra Dahlström.
Sam and Sarah discuss the making of Rocks, the incredible teen performances in Show Me Love and Sarah's ideal screening of the film.
